He who laughs last thinks slowest!
Mood:  caffeinated
Now Playing: "Daddy, why doesn't this magnet pick up this floppy disk?"

Morning!

I think this will be a short entry; I need to work on finances. =)

Today is going to be really weird, via weather and when I pick up Flyboy. First off, the weather is going to start of at below freezing and reach a high of between 75 and 80! I ask you, what happened to our winter over here??? Then Flyboy has been recruited by the squadron to compete in a competition to ready the Wing for a huge inspection. (Apparently this is a yearly event) It is squadron verses squadron, each with four teams and four events. Then the final event is each Squadron Commander wagering the points his squadron earned for the win. (This is the first time we have heard about this. Last year there were too many things going on for the squadron to participate or something or other. I don’t know) So, Flyboy is competing in that. He practices today in his event and then sometime next week is the real deal.

Oh, and as of 15 Jan 09 flyboy is now a Senior Airman. Pretty cool… eh? He is scored really high on his EPR and is currently waiting on the Squadron Commander to return to work (He just got back from deployment) so he can sign in. Then it has to be pushed up the chain of command and then he gets to actually have his EPR paper in his hand he will get to spend billions of dollars on new stripes and patches and yadda, yadda, yadda, I am thrilled. Then of course the Finance Office has to get it (which takes forever). But yeah, he has been promoted =) Yay Flyboy. (He had to explain all this to me a few times because it just doesn’t make sense, so this is the best I can relay to you all. Lol)

I haven’t heard any out of Soldier, which means he is probably still busy with missions. My car has been starting AWESOMELY, now that we figured out the new trick. (Not locking it with the “clicky button” and locking it manually instead. It is AMAZING, I am so baffled by it, especially that I didn’t think of it myself, and also since it is SO simple. The car fires up like it was the middle of summer. It blows my mind! I am having a really hard time getting over it, really.

My finger is doing better, super glue is amazing. It finally sealed itself in the middle (kind of gross looking really), but the rest of it is still wide open, deep too. (I found this out after I got the super glue to come off, the last time I did that, I just reopened the wound and it started gushing blood, blah.) Anyway, I put some Neosporin on it and put it back in a band aid, it’s not giving me trouble at all. =)

Though speaking of trouble, I made some oatmeal for breakfast and was going to add some sugar, so I asked Flyboy if he would bring me the sugar. So he brought “it” to me and I put a bunch on my cereal, added some raisins and I eagerly took a big bite. The taste was instantly nasty, and I thought, these raisins are gross, okay, whatever, I can deal. Then I started to continue chewing (as much as you can chew oatmeal) and the taste just kept getting worse and worse then I realized, it wasn’t sugar he gave me it was salt!!!!!!!!!! OMG, I never thought you could ruin oatmeal until now. The thing is I have the sugar in an air tight mason jar (keeps sugar from hardening, especially brown sugar! I love my vacuum sealer!) Anyway, the sugar is kept with my spices, and the left over salt is put in the cabinet over the stove, I guess he forgot and grabbed the salt. (The labels had peeled off, but you can still tell the difference just looking at them. Sugar is shiny salt, not so much) but yeah, so I am still trying to get the taste out of my mouth. There’s nothing like a mouth full of salt drenched oatmeal for breakfast! Yuck!

Other than that, not much has been going on. I will probably have left over lasagna for lunch, since I didn’t really eat it last night for dinner. I was exhausted and had no appetite. I haven’t been sleeping too well. I mean I sleep, but I have been tossing all night. I think it could be due to the heat, it has been getting really warm at night, which is odd since I don’t have the heater turned up that high. I have it set under 70 degrees. (70 degrees, is just too hot for me).

Hmm… though speaking of that, this Saturday we are going over to Macho Nacho’s house. (He reminds me of a younger version of Cousin Richard, same build and humor, and “kids” are a dirty word in his house, right now, as in him having kids. He doesn’t mean it; he is just a macho, nacho type guy. He’d make a great uncle, or a great daddy one day, if he and his girlfriend decided to get married, they have been together for how long now? Lol) Anywho, he just got back from deployment and so he decided he is going to throw a welcome home type shindig at his place, and we have been invited, just as long as I bring apple crisp. (Like I did last time lol) Should be fun…

Well my tummy is rumbling, must mean it is snack time and that lunch is only a few more hours away! I need a hole puncher! That is what I forgot at the store. Flyboy and I went to the BX to pick up scale and I just couldn’t for the life of me remember what else I was there for. Well I remember now, and that was like 3 days ago!

Well it is snack time, so I am going to fix me one. =) Hope you all are doing well! Happy Thursday!!!!! (I don’t know, my tummy is taking nutrients from my brain I guess =S) Take care!

Love,

Topic: Flyboy Speaks

Hey there everyone!  Flyboy here!

Short post today... Niki was making dinner and cut her finger, a nice long and pretty painful cut, and I had to run to the store and grab some super glue to help seal the wound... it is just another thing that superglue is good for.  The wound is now securely shut and we shall be heading to the store later to get a more appropiate bandage.

Other things in my life are going rather smoothly; the rest of my squadron has returned from deployment and they are now on their R&R Compensation days... meaning that begining in February I get new leadership, get to schedule a lot of people for flights, etc.

So... Niki has moved to cutting the onion and asked me to get my gas mask so she doesn't cry from the onion...

"Onions are no match for me!!! Huah!" -Niki

Silly niki!

Hm... we think that we have solved the problem with our car. Our car has an anti-theft system called Pass-Lock.  Now, the Pass-Lock system operates by having a piece of silicon that detects whether a given key is the correct key that is placed in the ignition.  All is well during warm weather.  However, the silicon contracts during cold weather; which means that it cannot detect the key as well as it would.  It actually does not recognize the key as the same key!  Now, there is a procedure to reset the recognition for the key; however, it would be rather stupid to do it here, where we go up and down temperatures daily, so that procedure would be ineffective.  So, rather than having trouble with the system daily, I have discovered a rather simple way to bypass it all. The Pass-Lock system is activated by the remote lock.  So, we just need to manually lock the car, which does not activate Pass-Lock and therefore the silicon does not even check to see if the key is correct.  I tried out this theory by starting the car without warming the key or the ignition switch.  The car started the first time! (In 18 degree weather, I might add!)  Of course, I will continue to try out this theory and will update on the end results.  But so far so good!

Ah well... everything here is pretty fine.  I think that should conclude today's post.

Buenos Tardes!

I know this is a later than normal entry, but I was busy with veggies this morning. As soon as I came home I was in the mood to start bagging the frozen veggies. Speaking of veggies, I need to quickly bag the asparagus I blanched and put in the freezer. (That was like 4 hours ago)

Anywho, I figured that since I have been slacking in the kitchen, I might as well start bagging while I have the energy to do so. All I have left is the asparagus. We have been having electrical issues for over a month now and I finally figured out what it was… the microwave! Yeah, I decided to move it to a different outlet, and turn on all the lights, just to see if it was the outlet or not. Well it was, until I plugged the microwave into another outlet and proceeded to heat something until it started to smoke… We NOW have a new microwave.

I messaged Flyboy about it and since he was on lunch I invited him to come with me to pick one out. Then we headed to subway for lunch and split a tuna sandwich. They actually made it well this time because it was the best tuna sandwich I have had in years, no joke.

I didn’t end up cooking the meat yesterday, it was too cold, and I had like no energy. I REALLY need to start cooking before my meat goes bad =S (I need to put my Christmas decorations away too!)

During lunch Flyboy was telling me that the Air Force will be having civilians conducting the PT tests. Pretty interesting. It basically means the tests will be harder to pass. So after he gets off work he has allowed me to work with him, instead of working separately. We will see how this goes. I made him promise not to complain, and I promised to let him get sleep at night (me and my night owl mentality). So I am hoping this goes well. =)

It is still in the low teens outside, and no snow, just icy goodness. I need to figure out what dinner will consist of, and I am kind of having trouble with it. Hmm…

Well, I think I am going to bag those frozen asparagus… stalks? (I think that is what they are called) Anyway, keep warm, take care and look out for geese. =)

Hmmm... That Was Weird
Mood:  hug me
Now Playing: Why Did It Do That?

Morning!

Well, I have returned with a hungry stomach, some painfully aching appendages and an alien gerbil named Ned.

I just finished dropping Flyboy off, he was a minute late. My lovely Saturn decided that rubbing the key 20 times wasn’t good enough and well it refused to start on the first try. Now granite it was 14 degrees out there but that isn’t an excuse. Though I am still very proud of it, for starting on the second try of course… 15 minutes later...

(I really like this font. HEHE. I haven’t noticed it before. See I generally type my entries on Word before I copy and paste them onto the blog. There are only like 3 font choices on the actual blog and 3 sizes, so, I go a different route.)

Yesterday was busy. I went grocery shopping, stayed under budget and replied to an email from Soldier’s friend, Domino. She is really cool and I am glad she wrote me back. (They have been very, very, Very close friends for a while, like since he was in Cali ;) and I have to keep EVERYONE posted ;) you know) Anywho that was really exciting until, my keyboard decided to die. Yeah, it stopped working all together. Yes, it was plugged in to the tower and yes… I moved the wires around to try to rehabilitate it, but it came down to a loss. Yeah, and right in the middle of my email. So I had to drive down to Wal-Mart to pick up a new keyboard, 13 bucks. I figured they would start off higher than that, but I lucked out I guess. (I would have gone to the BX but they are generally PACKED on payday by 900) Now I have a new keyboard, its name is Randy. =) I think I like this one better than my old one, but my old one came WITH my ancient computer. So I am having a hard time with that. Lol Randy is smaller and much, much lighter. It will take some time getting used to, but I think I will be alright. Haha.

So, all of that drama threw my un-timed time schedule off. I was able to organize my “pantry” and put all the groceries away, and then Flyboy called and said he was off work in 15 minutes. Of course…

I wasn’t able to cook ALL of the meat… You will NEVER guess what today will entail while Flyboy soars through the clouds? Awww, how did you know? Yuppers, cooking meat. Ha! But I still win because you didn’t say anything about veggies and I have to do that too. Well assuming isn’t very wise ya know. Lol =)

I don’t know what else needs updating. Hmm… Oh I have figured more about my itchy-ness, besides an allergic reaction to dryer sheets… dry skin. I found some St. Ives on sale yesterday (Like REALLY on sale) and I put some on after my night shower and oh… my… goodness… I was like instantly relieved. Yay Me. Then this morning I was talking with Mississippi Mom and she helped me figure out why certain appendages were just unrelentingly tender and well in pain with the slightest touch. Apparently it is a much common side affect of one of the pills I am taking. (That would have been nice to know so I wouldn’t freak out. I read the sheet the pharmacist gave me when I went to pick up the pills. ((They always give you a paper that has a bunch of important information about the medication you have been prescribed)) and this certain painful tenderness wasn’t listed.) Flyboy looked it up on the computer form my last night and he said it was hard to say what could be the cause, but he deduced that it could be related to these hormone changes that the doctor is trying to fix and what not. Since my mom is well, a girl, duh, I figured she would know the answer better than a computer. I was right =) so she gave me some much appreciated advice on how to soothe the situation. Thank goodness it was this and not something else. I know cancer is a popular inevitability in this particular region on my side of the family. I LOVE family ailments. Haha. Yeah, I was really starting to stress out, if it’s not my knees it’s my teeth or PCOS. It is really frustrating. =/ Anywho, I am really excited that it is related to these silly pills and not something else. I am glad it can be relived too.  (I am sure that is much more than you needed to know, but, I am being honest and hey, you’re the ones reading it hehe. =) )

Anywho, I am really famished, I haven’t eaten yet and hungry is the number one cause of drowsiness and fatigue… I don’t know, it just seemed like that would be the right sentence there, whether it is true or not. Haha. Well I declare that it is feeding time and I must depart from you to feast on something tasty in the kitchen. I must ready my sword for it may have to be slaughtered first. “To the garden… AWAY” *flies off*

(That made no sense hehe)

Take care! Love you guys! Be Safe!!

I'm A Goldfish, God Made Me, God Made Me, God Made Me, I'm A Goldfish God Made Me I'm As Happy As Can Be!!!!!
Mood:  cheeky
Now Playing: I've Got a Lovely Bunch Of Cocoa Nuts... There They Are Just Standing In Uh Row Bum Bum BUM....

GOOD MORNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just got home from grocery shopping, and I got out of there for less than $150, wooowhooo!!! I’m not trying to rub anything in, I know groceries are expensive, but I am excited because I stayed under budget, $150, for two shopping trips now =D Yay me!!!

I think my sleep schedule is back on track and of course it will screwed up tonight and for the rest of the week, God bless crew rest. Though, I don’t know if Flyboy will be able to take off tomorrow since we have a nasty cold front coming in, thank you WA. Just kidding. But yeah, it is supposed to get really nasty tonight and tomorrow. Like always, no snow, just ice.

I rewashed the bedding yesterday and I wasn’t itchy at all last night. Go figure. So now I have 75 dryer sheets that I can’t use because my body chemicals have decided they don’t like the dryer sheets I picked out.

I don’t think I am going to write much more today. I have a list of things I need to do before Flyboy gets sent on crew rest, and I don’t know when crew rest starts until I pick him up. So I am on a time schedule with no time limit? I will assume I will have to be done with my list somewhere around 1300. It seems that on days before flying they like to keep them there after lunch. I don’t know, there is nothing to read into, this is just a female estimation.

Well the fridge needs reorganizing and so does my “pantry” and I really, really, really need to cook this meat before I lose the “lack” to do so. (I am so tired of cooking. And the sad thing is, I have to eat to live so cooking is a life long commitment. Kind of depressing, as are the dishes that piled up out of nowhere. I did them yesterday and I went to sleep around 1730… so I know who the culprit is… Shadow Mario *dun dun duuuuuuun!*

Anyway, I REALLY need to go. Take care and stay warm!!!

Love ya,

~NikiRose

Oh No! It Is Tuesday The 13th!!!!
Mood:  caffeinated
Now Playing: The Mindless Wanderings Of The Haunted Nate

Good morning…

Yesterday was a “pro” day so Flyboy had it off, that is why there wasn’t a post yesterday.

This weekend has been primarily used for catching up on sleep and attempting to fix sleep patterns. I think it was somewhat of a success. I am up early without agitation, Flyboy is in the shower at the last minute as always and it is really cold in the living room. (That is where the computer is) Needless to say, I may have to leave here in a few to attempt to start the car. It hates the cold apparently. I think I may wait until Flyboy gets out of the shower so I won’t get annoyed at his mindless running around looking for something he can’t remember. Haha.

Oh I have a…

***SOLDIER UPDATE*** He messaged me the other day in between missions and his leave dates have changed from June 2 – June 20th to May 26 – June 13. Which conveniently is the day we are leaving from Cali. We may make some minor hotel adjustments so he can save a shiny penny and drive back with us. So now, I have to write another letter updating him on cost and what not, basically a budget. He greatly appreciates it, so I know it isn’t a waste of my ink. =) Though that last letter was like 11 pages on one of those giant-yellow-steno pads. I can tell by his letters that he is changing again, as horrible as it is to have him over there, he is gaining a lot of life experiences from it and I can see that just in the way he writes. (It is a good thing, don’t worry.)

Ah, I hear the electric razor… must mean that Flyboy has emerged from his ridiculously scalding hot morning shower. Now he will go into the bedroom, turn on the light, look for his work clothes (which are in the same place as always. Then he will look for undies and socks, then find his way into the kitchen, turn on all these lights just to make coffee. Next he will wander back into the bathroom to look for something that isn’t there, then he’ll be back in the bedroom putting on his flight suit, wander into the living room to look for his boots which are staring him in the face (he had to walk over them).  He will leave his boots, go back into the bedroom and look for his phone, keys, tags and ring, since they are in 2 different places. He will tell me good morning and then find his way to the computer. Though since I am on the computer at the moment it will problem throw him off enough that he is going to do some extra wandering this morning, I will estimate it around 5 minutes, which of course will cramp him for more time. lol, Silly man.

Well I better throw on my jeans and head out to the car. Don’t worry; I will be back after I drop him off. I have yet to talk about our trip to get the DTV converter box…..

Bye for now,

~NikiRose

 --------------------------------------

Dear Lord! Its like 19 out there with a windchill of of 9.. so it is like 10 here. That totally explains why I was shivering so bad that I wanted to vomit, also the odd feeling of frost bite... The car is warming up right now, and so am I... in the house lol. Be back soon!

-------------------------------------------

I’m back for now, doing laundry again. Flyboy and I have decided that I am allergic to our dryer sheets. So, now I am rewashing and drying without them.  I hope it works, being itchy is no fun. =/

Flyboy messaged me this morning (1/2 hour ago) saying that he was morning scheduler again, but then things got switched around and now he is afternoon scheduler, which means 1630 release time again. He brought his P.T. clothes and he has a CDC test he has to study for, so he doesn’t mind staying at work until his shift starts at noon.  Fun times I guess. Tomorrow he has to be there at “o’dark thirty”, everyone is getting together then to surprise the rest of the squadron who is coming home from deployment. =) Once the sun starts to rise, the commissary opens, which means I will be off to another day of grocery shopping. Thursday Flyboy flies, so I have no idea when I will be able to post, it all depends on show time. Friday, I have no clue what is going on there, he is figuring that out right now. (I just texted him about it) Then there is another weekend and Monday will be yet another day off then Sleeveman’s birthday and then February. This year just started and already it is flying by. I hope the next four years do the same and I hope they are painless and our constitution will still be intact.

Anywho, DTV converter box….  What pain in the bum. I know, I know, if we paid for cable it would be a problem, but we don’t because the only time we really watch the television is during tornado season, which is pretty much the only channel we get on analog anyway. FEBRUARY 17, 2009, blah, blah, blah.  So we applied for one of the coupons a while ago and realized it had an expiration date and decided we might as well head down to Wal-Mart and pick one up. The box cost $49.95 and the coupon is for $40, but with a 7.8% tax on it at $49.95, we paid 14 bucks for it. This thing is chinsy too; I mean China was slacking when they made this thing.  Lol.  Anyway we get it home and I set it up (Flyboy was with a friend of his), well at least attempt to with the instructions that came with it. The instructions don’t instruct very well and I felt very much pressured into having to buy cable. First off the instructions said that if it doesn’t have an on and off switch on the side of the box that it will turn on (the little light will turn on as green) once you plug it in to an outlet. Okay, I did that… nothing. So after figuring we bought a broken one, I decided to try using the remote that came with it (that is of course lighter than a butter knife) Yay! We have a little green light!! No where and I mean no where in the instructions does it say you have to turn it on with the remote. Grr. So I hook the antenna up to the converter box and then up to the television, turn both the TV and the box back on and it seems like we have success, I mean it started me with the “setup wizard”. Cool. No, wrong. “No SIGNAL” error pops up. I adjust the antenna and still nothing. Now I know in some places once you switch over from analog you won’t have any signal because of how strong the frequencies are and such. I know that my exact address WILL get signal when we switch over, I have research on it to make sure purchasing a converter box was even worth it. I don’t see the point in buying something that won’t be needed. The instructions said nothing about this, of course. So after being fed up with this I tossed the instructions aside and went through the “advanced” settings. I credit my success to helping Flyboy with his CDC’s (career development course); otherwise I wouldn’t have known what any of the vocabulary meant or how to answer the questions they were asking. (I haven’t read the books I only do the flashcards from the questions and answers he gives me. I keep myself from retaining it which I have been very successful at doing such. You could say I don’t keep the paths “lit” to that information and the questions lit a candle on one of the roads. I think I am going to stop trying to explain this because I am confusing myself.

Wow, he is already bored with studying, it is barely 900. (He texted me saying he is off to the gym to work out. We kind of decided that we will workout separately for a couple weeks and then start working out together, that way it doesn’t start out as a competition, and there isn’t any arguing. Last time… ooh I tell you what… Anywho, my house smells funny, like nasty funny. I know it isn’t the laundry, laundry isn’t old and trash has been taken out last night.  The dishes from last night are soaking, but I don’t know, it is nasty. I showered last night; Flyboy is at work, so yeah. It smelled like this last grocery day, and I remember it was that day because I decided to put the extra air fresheners from my car in the house into the vent in the kitchen and the bedroom. It worked, made the house smell mountain-y fresh. I took them out the other day because I was thinking I was allergic to them, I guess not since I am still itchy. I think I am going to put them back up. I hope there isn’t a dead critter in the ducts somewhere. Flyboy thinks it may be the case since we have been having electrical issues in the living room/dining room and kitchen. Like using the microwave and the lights in the kitchen and dining room either go dim or flicker like candles, all the while the microwave is kicking on high and low like I were defrosting something. The stove, refrigerator, and the ceiling lights are the only appliances plugged in into the kitchen, besides the microwave. In the living room the computer is the only thing plugged in. I don’t leave the lights on or the fan on in the dining room, so I don’t know. It didn’t do this when we moved it or even in November. Oh, and don’t get me started on the washing machine. I have to call out someone to fix that and I need to talk to the apartment people to look at my electrical stuff. Blah.

I think that is it for now. I plan on working out right before I pick Flyboy up from work. I think I may cook some more meat and freeze some more veggies.

Take care and stay warm!

Here's A Story.. Bout A Man Named Brady.. Who was Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah..
Mood:  chatty
Now Playing: "My Toes Are Cole, My nose is Froze, My Ears Are Froze"

Good Morning!

I just wanted to let Sleeveman know that we got the package that Flyboy sent. I haven’t opened it yet though.

Flyboy made cashew chicken last night, it tasted pretty good. I didn’t have much of an appetite so I have some left over for lunch, unless Flyboy decided he would take it for lunch. (I didn’t pack his lunch this morning)

I slept alright last night, Flyboy thinks I am an insomniac, I just think I am a night owl. I didn’t get as much sleep as I would have liked, so I am really looking forward to sleeping tonight.

 =) LOL

Not much has been going on here, I need to do dishes again and some laundry. (I think we are out of towels) Then I have to pick flyboy up at I think around 1600 again, but I’m not sure. I can’t recall how training day goes. (Today is training day) It has been a while since the last one. I don’t want to text him until around lunch, just incase he is in a briefing. The last thing I want to do is get him in trouble. =/

It has been really warm here, as in 60 degrees as a high and 40 as a low. Today unfortunately it is very windy so I expect a LOT of Flyboy sneezes. Haha.

Oh we watched the BCS Championship game last night between OU and UF. Florida broke through Oklahoma’s defense like they were bushes in a park. Sad really, I know OU can do a lot better than that. I think OU would have had the game if they didn’t rush through every play in the first half. They rushed through each play so fast, that they made a bunch of careless errors and it was a very hard game to watch. Though I will say the Gators did awesome!

I don’t follow college sports nor professional anymore, but this is college football country and well, last night that was the only thing on the television. When I mean only I mean ONLY. I blame Oklahoma for ruining my desire to watch football on T.V or go to games. They are waaay over the top, when it comes to sports, football and basketball especially. I mean they have little league on the sports channel, and I don’t mean the championships, like with baseball. The have pewee (sp) football on the television WITH commentators that bet on which college is going to give them a scholarship…  You would think that it is alright since it gets the families together but the competitiveness between the parents and fans is worse than in the Hollywood movies.

Anyway, I am tired of talking about that. I think I am going to wash some dishes so I can decide what lunch will consist of. Left over Chinese, if it is still there, doesn’t sound too great. I don’t want “sweet”, you know?

Well I better go for now. Hope you guys have a great day! Take care!

I didn’t sleep well at all last night, well didn’t sleep at all really. I had my alarm set everyday for 2000 as a reminder to take my pills. (These ones you have to be precise otherwise they screw stuff up) Well it never went off. I only suddenly remembered when Flyboy’s phone started buzzing from a text Sleeveman sent. I was an hour late. Blah. So Mr. Glucophage decided it would take revenge on my head and give me a nasty headache. A very unrelenting headache, which I still have now... I researched some more about it and it causes headaches because it interferes with your sugar levels. So I ate something, which did nothing but give me a tummy ache. I feel bad because Flyboy was restless in the process.

We had chili spaghetti last night for supper, which was a nice filler. I haven’t had lunch yet, and I know I should eat, but I am not feeling up to it. Hmm... Maybe some soup or something, yeah, I think I will do that. Now as what to cook for dinner, I’m lost.

While I was up I watched an interesting documentary about the Red Hat Society. It was started accidentally by this lady who saw a red hat in a thrift shop. She decided to be impulsive and buy it. Realizing that she hadn’t done anything like this in a while, and seeing how happy it made her feel, she decided to find one for her friend who was turning 55 the following week. She was reminded of the poem Warning, by Jenny Joseph…

When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat which doesn't go and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
And run my stick along the public railings
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
And pick the flowers in other people's gardens...

But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.

So she decided to get her friends together, wear red hats and purple clothes and go out for tea. It slowly became a mini club that helped connect a bunch of women with similar life experiences and it just grew from there. There are a bunch of different chapters all over the world. I really enjoyed the history about it and what it means to these women. It kind of makes me look forward to becoming 50 with all of my friends. =)

Anywho… There isn’t much going on here. We are patiently awaiting Flyboy’s EPR and the month of June. As well as some feed back on Soldiers’ mission… I just would like to know when he makes it back and that he is still in one piece and the same with his buddies.  But that is pretty much it.

Oh, I know this is late, just like the package; we are glad that Power Presto likes the penguin sheets we found! I hope The Josh likes his kimono. I really wished it would have shown up on time. I find it odd that it took twice as long. I sure hope you guys in WA are doing alright. When Sleeveman texted Flyboy, he was saying that he was stuck in traffic because of flooding.  The weather guy said there is more rain on its way over there. Eeek. It looks nasty up there, kind of like when Katrina hit, except for some minor things that I may get reprimanded for commenting on, so I won’t. haha.

I think I better check on my soup, I decided on clam chowder. Speaking of clam chowder, I wonder if the Jetty is still open… I know that is definitely a place where I want to take Flyboy when we come out to visit. I really hope he enjoys it. I hope Soldier decides to drive back there with us. It would save us both a very shiny penny. LOL And even more so if gas prices don’t go higher than I estimated them at. Like I say, it is better to over estimate than underestimate.

Really quick, soup is done and I am very hungry. Flyboy’s trip to the grocery store for Snack Bar turned out to be a trip to Sam’s Club. He liked that.

Well I really should be going now. I have to reheat my soup… =( it got cold. Well, take care everyone! We miss you!

Ode To Helvetica
Mood:  d'oh
Now Playing: "We Wish You A Merry Wednesday And A Happy Tomorrow!
Morning!!!

I think that today's entry will be a short one. For some reason I am not feeling up to "par". I got the car to start again; I am pretty excited about that. Though I don’t want to say too much, for fear I will jinx the record. It is 26 this morning, with a wind chill of 20. Yet still, no snow. Slightly irritating...

Oh! We saw the most interesting and random documentary last night. It was a documentary about the type face Helvetica. These guys decided to create a printed font and it all started off with a hand sketch of each letter. It took them a long while because they wanted every detail to be perfect. That was back in the 50’s or 60’s (I don’t recall which, it was late last night) But anyway, all the signs you see today, advertisements, government names, documents, even the 1040EZ is written in Helvetica. I am writing in it now. It was very interesting. I think some of you would enjoy watching it.

Oh, the ribs turned out very well. Flyboy was pretty excited. He is stuck doing Snack Bar duty again today and isn’t very thrilled about it. I think it also doesn’t help that he has to go shopping for the Snack Bar to replace the supplies. Apparently the Snack Bar responsibilities have changed since he was on leave, and he had to raise the “B.S” flag yesterday when the D.O. was starting to chew him out because he didn’t go to the store to restock the Snack Bar. Originally, there was a person designated from each squadron in the building to take care of making a list and restocking the supplies, but now, whoever happens to be the person on Snack Bar duty when supplies run out has to go shopping. Dumb, yes I know. He’s not too happy about it either, especially since there was no email about it and he was on leave for 2 weeks. Flyboy just messaged me and is more frustrated because they only gave him 250 bucks to restock EVERYTHING. They are out of pretty much everything, so yeah. I just hope he gets some of all that is needed instead of maxing out a few on the list. I think I should probably message him that. No offense to him, but men in general and men in the morning, don’t tend to think to their full capacity. Haha.

I don’t know if there is anything else to update on. I did the dishes… It will be the last time I do them too until he figures out that pans and bowls need to soak. It’ll be up to him to do them if he wants to cook dinner and leave the food encrusted pot overnight on the stove. I am a bit tired of that. I know, I know, it’ll be worse when/if we have kids… I know… I would like to think I can kick in the pants now, I was doing great there for a while…

Anywho, I haven’t seen my squirrel around for a while, I wonder if he froze to death, or if some little kid decided to eat him. (I only say that because when I was little my aunt would take me to the park and I always wanted to catch the squirrels so I could eat them. At least that is how my fuzzy memory remembers it.) Oh, I named him too… Sherwood Fuzzy Feet. =)

I think I am going to unload the dishwasher (I use it as a drying rack) and then maybe work on some flash cards. I have really fallen behind on those. I feel bad, but you know, he could help with them too. I mean I only have so many pictures in my head, like Word Clip Art, and sooner or later they are going to be all used and I will have to download new images. Except my max includes Word Clip Art and all that you can download, so… you can see the dilemma.

Anywho, it is time for some hot cocoa and something blue. I don’t know. The greatest phrase I heard yesterday… “In my world… everyone is a pretty pony and they all eat rainbows and poop butterflies!!” *smiles form ear to ear* It was a clip from Horton Hears a Who. It was pretty random. But yeah… I need to go; it is freezing in the “office”. Take care! Love ya!
